1 min read

PLYMOUTH — A routine traffic stop on Cherry Street for speeding led to the arrest of Michael Botelho on Jan. 10 after Plymouth police discovered cocaine and a large amount of cash in his unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

Botelho was pulled over by an officer who called for a tow after an RMV check revealed the vehicle’s status.

During an inventory of the car’s contents, the officer found a digital scale with residue, sandwich bags, and a backpack filled with individually packaged corner-cut baggies of white powder, which later tested positive for cocaine.

The total weight of the cocaine seized was approximately 55.3 grams.

Botelho, found with additional evidence on his person, was charged with cocaine trafficking, possession with the intent to distribute, and possession of Class B (Cocaine), as well as motor vehicle offenses.

Arrested without incident, Botelho was taken to Plymouth Police Headquarters for processing.

The Plymouth Police Department underscored the significance of proactive traffic enforcement in combating illegal narcotics in the community.
