East Providence man arrested on bench warrant for assault

PROVIDENCE — Troopers at Lincoln Woods Barracks arrested Dennis Garnetto, age 46, from East Providence, on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 2:43 p.m. following a motor vehicle stop on Route 146.

Garnetto, residing at 1250 South Broadway Street Apartment #21, was apprehended due to a Third Division District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Review of Pay based on the original charge of Simple Assault and/or Battery, stemming from an incident at the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks.

After processing at the barracks, Garnetto was transferred to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.

In a separate incident, early Monday, Jan. 13, at 1:01 a.m., Troopers detained 20-year-old Davon Johnson of Central Falls.

Johnson, faced multiple charges, including a bench warrant for failing to appear for arraignment on a simple assault charge and a violation of probation warrant on a vandalism charge, both originating from the North Providence Police Department.

Additionally, Johnson was charged with obstructing a police officer during the execution of duty.

The arrest occurred after a vehicle stop on Dexter Street in Central Falls.

Johnson was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and held overnight for arraignment as a probation and bail violator at the Sixth Division District Court.
