BOURNE — The Town of Bourne and the Bourne Police Department announced on Jan. 12 that they are investigating a cyberattack which compromised the town’s Information Technology network.

The breach was detected on Jan. 11, prompting a swift response from local authorities and partner agencies to assess the extent and impact of the incident.

Town Administrator McCollem, the point of contact for the joint public information statement, affirmed that the investigation is being treated as a criminal matter.

While the investigation is ongoing, officials have stated that further details cannot be released at this time.

Updates will be made available to the public as new information arises.

Despite the cyberattack, the Bourne Police Department’s operations, including the emergency 9-1-1 call service, have not been affected and remain fully functional.

Additionally, the town’s phone systems and email communications are operating normally.

The town reassures residents that maintaining the integrity of their IT infrastructure and the safety of the community are top priorities as they navigate through the incident.
