PROVIDENCE — A Providence man was arrested early Sunday on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, obstruction, and driving with a suspended license, following a traffic stop in the city.
Gaspar Alonzo Cortez, 27, of 262 Union Avenue, was taken into custody at 12:18 a.m. after being pulled over by state troopers on Hartford Avenue.
According to Rhode Island State Police, Alonzo Cortez is charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs—his second offense with blood alcohol content unknown, refusal to submit to a chemical test—first offense, obstructing a police officer in the execution of duty, and driving with a suspended license—his fourth offense.
Following the arrest, Alonzo Cortez was transported to the State Police – Scituate Barracks, where he was processed.
He was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and subsequently released into the custody of a responsible adult.
