WESTBROOK — A vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a residence in the 300 block of Conant Street Wednesday morning, resulting in significant damage to the home and non-life threatening injuries to the driver.
Westbrook Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m. after receiving reports of the incident.
The Westbrook and Gorham Fire Departments worked together to safely extricate the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The individual was then transported to a local hospital.
No residents of the house were harmed during the crash.
Photographs released by authorities show the substantial damage inflicted on the property.
A wrecker company later conducted a careful operation to remove the vehicle from the building.
Preliminary investigations suggest driver fatigue may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
Reports indicate that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Route 25 before it left the roadway, descended an embankment, and collided with a parked car in the driveway, which launched it airborne and into the house.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the exact cause of the crash.
