NEW LONDON — A New London police officer was arrested late Thursday night following a domestic violence incident, the New London Police Department reported.
The Emergency Communications Center received a call at approximately 11:11 p.m. on Jan. 9 reporting a female victim at a Michael Rd. residence.
Police responded immediately to the scene where they encountered the victim and Julio Gil-Martinez, an officer with the department.
During the investigation, it was determined that a protective order was in place, listing the female victim as the protected party.
Gil-Martinez was found to have violated this order, and additional criminal violations were uncovered.
Julio Gil-Martinez, 28, of 96 Michael Rd., Apt. D, faces charges of disorderly conduct, violation of a protective order, unlawful restraint in the first degree, and criminal mischief in the second degree.
He is currently held on a $100,000 cash-surety bond with an arraignment scheduled for Jan. 10.
Gil-Martinez was already on administrative leave due to a prior domestic violence arrest in November.
