SHOREHAM — A single-vehicle accident on VT Route 74, near the intersection with VT Route 22A, led to the arrest of Shoreham resident Alan Byrnes on suspicion of driving under the influence on Jan. 9.
Troopers arrived at the snowy scene around 4:56 p.m. amid overcast weather conditions to find Byrnes, 35, with suspected minor injuries.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Byrnes sustained minor damage to the rear bumper and passenger side front quarter panel.
During the interaction with Byrnes, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, troopers observed signs of impairment.
Following a field sobriety screening, Byrnes was taken into custody and transported to the New Haven Barracks for further processing.
Byrnes was later released on citation and is scheduled to appear in the Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, to face DUI charges.
