CHESTER — A multi-agency operation involving the Chester Police Department and several other law enforcement agencies has resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old man for possession of stolen property and methamphetamine.

On Jan. 8, officers from the Chester Police Department, Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, Springfield Police Department, Bellows Falls Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, executed a search warrant at 39 Baltimore Road in connection with a previous case involving stolen vehicles and tools.

As the search was underway, Nicholas Thompson of Rahimorez drove past the residence.

Lieutenants Leonard and Battista of the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department subsequently conducted a traffic stop and took Thompson into custody without incident.

During the search, authorities seized over $1,000 in stolen property, approximately 5 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm, and various ammunition.

Thompson was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property valued over $900 and possession of methamphetamine greater than 2.5 grams.

The Chester Police Department clarified that matters related to bail and incarceration are handled by the federal system, including judges, court clerks, and the state attorney’s office, and are not under police control.

Thompson is cited to appear in the Windsor County Superior Court Criminal Division on March 11.
