GROTON — Groton Police arrested a man Wednesday evening for failing to securely store a firearm and possessing a weapon on school property.
Justus D. Clarke, 32, was taken into custody at his Gold Star Highway residence around 7:51 p.m. after officers served an arrest warrant stemming from a Jan. 2 incident.
During that investigation, an unsecured gun was found in Clarke’s tent shelter on Poquonnock Road, land owned by the Groton Board of Education.
Clarke’s arrest is connected to the earlier apprehension of his brother, Jacob Clarke, on Jan. 3.

Charged with failure to store a firearm, reckless endangerment, and possession of a weapon on school property, Clarke was processed and held on a $200,000 cash or surety bond.
He is scheduled for arraignment today.
