WORCESTER — Worcester Police Vice Squad officers arrested a man on charges of fentanyl distribution after an investigation led them to a local gas station on Jan. 7.
Around noon, officers conducting surveillance in the vicinity of Park and Pleasant streets noticed a vehicle pull into the Gulf gas station lot, where the driver appeared to be waiting.
Shortly after, another vehicle, a black Honda, parked adjacent to the first.

Police approached and identified the Honda’s operator as 27-year-old James Ward, who had three active arrest warrants.
Ward attempted to flee but was apprehended by the officers.
A search of the Honda revealed multiple bags of what is believed to be fentanyl.
Ward faces charges for his outstanding warrants and for Distribution of a Class A Substance, Possession of a Class A Substance with Intent to Distribute, and Resisting Arrest.
