Man arrested for DUI, child cruelty in Montpelier

MONTPELIER — Vermont State Police arrested a Marshfield man on charges of DUI drug and cruelty to a child after a traffic stop on Interstate 89 on Jan. 6.

Troopers from the Berlin Barracks pulled over a vehicle driven by Patrick Hintz, 26, near mile marker 53 at approximately 4:36 p.m. During the stop, troopers noted signs of impairment in Hintz’s behavior.

A child was also present in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

Hintz was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.

Following the arrest, he received a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court to face the charges related to the incident.
