AUGUSTA — Maine State Police have apprehended a suspect in connection with the homicide of a Virginia man, whose remains were found in Edgecomb last December.

The body of William “Nate” Robinson, 34, from Austinville, Virginia, was discovered inside a trash barrel at Schmid Preserve on Old County Road on Dec. 3.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta later determined Robinson died from a gunshot wound and ruled his death a homicide.

Following an extensive investigation, Major Crimes Unit Central detectives executed a search warrant on Dec. 12 at 57 Conant Road in Turner.

Evidence at the site linked Luke Krott, 26, of Edgecomb to the murder, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Krott, who had been staying with his parents in Edgecomb, fled the state.

However, with the assistance of the San Diego Police Department’s Fugitive Task Force, FBI, and the U.S.

Marshals Service, authorities located Krott on the evening of Jan. 6 on a sailboat at a San Diego marina.

Currently held at the San Diego Central Jail on a fugitive from justice charge, Krott awaits extradition to Maine where he will face a murder charge.

The Maine State Police extended their gratitude to the local and federal law enforcement partners for their help in the apprehension.

As the investigation remains active and ongoing, no additional information has been released.
