TURNER — A head-on collision at the intersection of Turner Center Road and Bradford Road resulted in serious injuries and three individuals hospitalized on Jan. 6.

The crash occurred at 4:49 p.m., involving a black 2022 Ford Interceptor driven by Dana Wessling, 52, of Turner, who is also a lieutenant with the Monmouth Police Department, and a silver 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck operated by Sean McNeil, 41, of Minot.

According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, McNeil was traveling eastbound and veered into the westbound lane while coming around a curve, colliding with Wessling’s cruiser.

Both vehicles experienced significant front-end damage and were declared total losses.

Wessling, who was concluding his shift and had just retrieved his 7-year-old son from daycare, required extrication from the vehicle.

He was subsequently transported to a landing zone and airlifted by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

His son was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital for a precautionary evaluation.

McNeil and his 47-year-old female passenger, also from Turner, were transported by Turner and Buckfield Rescue to Central Maine Medical Center, sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s office crash reconstructionists and the Lewiston Police Department are conducting a thorough investigation of the incident, which remains active.
