MILFORD — A Milford Police Department K-9, Mako, and his handler, Officer Barritt, were instrumental in the January 4 capture of seven possibly armed individuals following a chase into a wooded area in Brookline.
Responding to a request for mutual aid, Officer Barritt and Mako joined forces with Officer Connors from the Hollis Police Drone Unit.
Together, they conducted an extensive search of the area.
The suspects were swiftly located within the woods with the help of the drone’s aerial surveillance capabilities.
With backup from several mutual aid departments, the suspects were apprehended without any incidents, thanks to the efforts of the officers and the protection provided by K-9 Mako.
Following the arrests, Mako was deployed once more to conduct an evidence recovery operation in the area.
The thorough search by the K-9 led to the discovery of several key pieces of evidence, including ammunition, firearm magazines, and a concealed pistol buried under leaves.
