MILFORD — Two juveniles in Milford have been charged with a slew of felonies and misdemeanors after a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts occurred overnight, authorities announced Tuesday.
Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino commended his department’s efforts in quickly resolving the case.
“Cases like this can be very difficult to solve. I’m proud of our Detectives for bringing an expedited resolution to this matter,” Tusino said.
He also highlighted the pivotal role of the community in aiding the investigation, noting that “Our relationship with our community and their eagerness to share their own video footage was an immense help in establishing an investigative timeline.”
The Milford Public Safety Communications Center received several calls on the morning of Monday, Jan. 6, from residents reporting thefts from their vehicles during the previous night.
Following the reports, detectives utilized video evidence shared on social media by community members to advance their investigation.
These efforts led to the execution of search warrants at the suspects’ residences, where various stolen items were recovered.
Tusino also used this incident to remind residents about the importance of securing their belongings. “This is an unfortunate but timely reminder that no matter how safe our community is, to always lock your vehicle and never leave any items in plain view,” he advised.
The charges against the juveniles include breaking and entering a vehicle or boat at night with intent to commit a felony, larceny over $1,200, larceny under $1,200, credit card fraud under $1,200, and conspiracy, among other allegations.
