BROOKFIELD — A Royalton man was arrested on charges of DUI refusal, gross negligent operation, and excessive speed after being pulled over by Vermont State Police on Jan. 6.
Matthew D. Bashaw, 24, was stopped by troopers from the Royalton Barracks at about 7:42 p.m. after his vehicle was clocked at 96 mph in a 45 mph zone on the intersection of VT Route 14 and VT Route 65.
During the traffic stop, troopers observed signs of impairment in Bashaw’s behavior.
He was taken into custody and processed at the Royalton Barracks.
Bashaw was later released with a criminal citation and is scheduled to appear in the Orange County Superior Court to respond to the charges.
He also received multiple Vermont Civil Violation Complaints.
