Brunswick man injured in Rt. 1 rollover crash

BRUNSWICK — A serious motor vehicle crash on Route 1 northbound near the West Bath town line resulted in significant injuries for a South Portland man on Monday morning.

Brunswick Police, along with Fire and EMS, were dispatched to the scene at 10:35 a.m. where they discovered that Michael Herrick, 26, had lost control of his vehicle.

The 2012 Hyundai drifted off the roadway, struck a rock embankment, and rolled several times before coming to rest upside down in a ditch.

Herrick, the sole occupant of the car, was trapped and required extrication by the Brunswick Fire Department.

He was airlifted to Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight of Maine with serious injuries that were later determined to be non-life-threatening.

The vehicle was declared a total loss.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
