BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a man from Dorchester on multiple firearm charges Monday afternoon while serving a warrant related to several traffic violations and property crimes.
At approximately 1:42 p.m., officers arrived at 348 Ashmont Street to serve a warrant to Henry Barboza, 38.
Upon making contact, they arrested Barboza, who was wanted on a warrant out of Roxbury District Court.
The warrant listed charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Firearm Violation with One Prior Violent Drug Crime, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License, and several other vehicle and property-related offenses.
During a protective sweep of Barboza’s apartment, officers found a person hiding under a blanket on a bed.
Next to the female individual, in an open cabinet, they discovered a firearm and loose ammunition.
The woman was identified as Josephine Simard, 45, of Boston, who had nine active warrants out for her arrest.
Simard’s charges ranged from Larceny of a Building to Credit Card Fraud.
She was also recently listed on the Boston Police Most Wanted List.
The recovered firearm was identified as an FB Radom, loaded with six rounds.
Barboza now faces additional charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
Both Barboza and Simard are set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the charges.
