BOSTON — A 51-year-old Alabama man was arrested Saturday with a firearm, illegal drugs, and unstamped cigarettes during a drug interdiction operation in the Grove Hall neighborhood of Dorchester.

The Boston Police Department’s Drug Control Unit from District B-2 (Roxbury) apprehended Manestreem Forty-Four of Greensboro, Alabama, after local residents’ complaints about drug activity led to targeted patrols in the area.

On Friday, at about 11 a.m., officers observed Forty-Four engaging in what appeared to be drug transactions from his vehicle.

Surveillance operations caught individuals leaving with boxes of illegal Newport cigarettes.

The next day, around noon, officers continued to monitor Forty-Four and witnessed repeated transactions.

When they approached and attempted to detain him, Forty-Four resisted by pushing an officer and trying to escape in his vehicle.

He was quickly restrained.

A search of Forty-Four’s vehicle turned up an undisclosed amount of money, multiple packages of unstamped cigarettes, several bags of marijuana, and a 9mm SCCY Industries CPX-2 firearm with 11 rounds in the magazine.

Forty-Four faces arraignment in Dorchester District Court on charges including possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, possession of unstamped cigarettes, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and multiple firearm-related offenses.

He is also charged with operating an uninsured and unregistered vehicle.
