SOMERVILLE — A rash of residential break-ins has swept through Somerville, leaving a trail of disarray but no reports of stolen items, police said.

Over the course of December, the Somerville Police Department responded to multiple calls regarding past breaking and entering incidents.

In each case, the victims returned to their homes to find doors ajar or unlocked and their living spaces disturbed.

The series of break-ins occurred predominantly on Bromfield Road, where police filed reports on Dec. 26 at 1:30 p.m., 1:24 p.m., and 12:14 p.m., and again on Dec. 28 at 3:40 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. In all instances, the residents had been away for the holidays and came back to find their homes entered without permission.

Similarly, on Dec. 28 at 5:52 p.m., a Jay Street resident reported an open basement door and displaced items.

Another incident on Mystic Ave on Dec. 19 at 5:49 p.m. involved a kicked-in basement door, while a College Ave resident on Dec. 21 at 7:39 a.m. found an unfamiliar male watching TV in his living room before the individual fled.

Trum Field also saw a break-in at approximately 9:52 a.m. on Dec. 23, where a group entered the restrooms and caused damage.

A Broadway residence was similarly breached on Dec. 26 at 10:19 p.m.

In addition to these break-ins, the police department has also been handling an assault case on Dec. 17 and another on Dec. 28, where the victims suffered from an attack and threats respectively.

The city has also faced other crimes during this period, including five bike thefts, 13 package thefts, three motor vehicle thefts, three incidents of vandalism, three cases of motor vehicle vandalism, and six car break-ins.

The Somerville Police Department has identified suspects in some cases and is asking anyone with information to come forward as they continue to investigate these incidents.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
