ST. JOHNSBURY — A Massachusetts woman was taken into custody on multiple charges, including her third DUI, after Vermont State Troopers responded to a vehicle obstruction on Interstate 91.
On the evening of Jan. 3, Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were dispatched to a report of a vehicle parked in the right lane of Interstate 91 northbound near mile marker 134.
Upon arrival, they encountered Alelia Whalen, 34, from Wilmington, MA, in the driver’s seat.
During their interaction with Whalen, Troopers observed signs of impairment.
Their investigation concluded that Whalen had been operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
She was arrested and charged with DUI #3, negligent operation, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of justice.
Following her arrest, Whalen was processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks and subsequently released with a citation.
She is scheduled to appear in the Caledonia County Superior Court Criminal Division on March 3 at 8:30 a.m. to face her charges.
