WEST RUTLAND — A single-vehicle accident resulted in a totaled car but no injuries early on Jan. 5, authorities said.

Kaylee Bunker, 22, of Fair Haven, was driving her 2014 Nissan Rogue eastbound on US Route 4 around 8:45 a.m. when her vehicle slid on the snowy and icy road surface and struck a guardrail near Twin Bridges at mile marker 13.

The front end of Bunker’s vehicle sustained substantial damage and was deemed a total loss following the crash.

Despite the severe damage to the car, Bunker, who was wearing her seatbelt, was not injured.

Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks, along with the West Rutland Fire Department, Regional Ambulance Service, and Turks Towing, responded to the scene to assist.

The weather at the time of the accident was cloudy with a temperature of 17 degrees and ongoing snowfall, which contributed to the treacherous driving conditions.

Authorities remind drivers to exercise caution while driving in winter weather.
