RICHFORD — A 29-year-old Richford man was arrested on charges of grand larceny and theft of services after a series of incidents on Jan. 4.

Perry Harrness was taken into custody after Vermont State Police received a report of a stolen vehicle from 1 Webster St. around 8 p.m., which belonged to 60-year-old Daniel Turcotte, also of Richford.

Citizens later found the vehicle with Harrness inside.

During the investigation, police determined Harrness had stolen the vehicle and had earlier left Mokah’s Restaurant on 14 Province St. without paying for services and with property totaling $1,500, confirmed by the restaurant owner Heather Simmons, 43, of Swanton.

Further inquiries revealed Harrness had an active in-state arrest warrant.

He was transported to Northwest Medical Center for minor injuries sustained before his arrest.

Harrness was lodged at Northwest Correctional Facility with bail set at $200 and is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Superior Court to face charges related to the incidents.
