Rhode Island State Police make multiple arrests overnight

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police have reported a series of arrests following various incidents that occurred overnight, leading to multiple individuals being processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks.

At 9 p.m., troopers took Alvaro Vasquez, 28, of Cranston, into custody for the first-offense violation of a no-contact order.

The arrest followed an investigation at the barracks, with assistance from the Cranston Police Department, which located Vasquez.

He was processed, arraigned, and subsequently transferred to the Adult Correctional Institution Men’s Intake Center.

Later in the evening, at 11:31 p.m., Patrick Grundy, 51, from Providence, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, less than 10 grams of Fentanyl.

The arrest occurred during a traffic stop on Atwells Avenue in Providence.

Grundy was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and released.

Simultaneously, James Grundy, 64, also of Providence, was arrested on an affidavit and arrest warrant for larceny under $1,500 and obtaining money under false pretenses, charges originating from the Johnston Police Department.

This arrest was also the result of the same traffic stop on Atwells Avenue.

James Grundy was processed at the barracks and turned over to the Johnston Police Department.

Early the next morning, at 2:17 a.m., a traffic stop on Route 195 in East Providence led to the arrest of Alex Pizarro, 33, from New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Pizarro faces several charges, including carrying a pistol without a license, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of large capacity feeding devices, conspiracy, and a federal warrant for probation violation on a weapons charge.

He was held for arraignment.

In the same incident, Yagdiel Y. Medina, 21, also of New Bedford, was arrested for similar firearm-related charges, as well as vandalism and disorderly conduct.

Medina was processed, arraigned, and released with a notice to appear in court.
