NORWALK — Police arrested a California man early Saturday morning after he allegedly showed up uninvited at a Scribner Avenue home with a machete, intending to assault a resident.
The Norwalk Police Department said they responded to the unwanted person complaint at about 7:30 a.m. The complainant reported that 26-year-old Patrick Norris, who had traveled from San Diego, was waiting on the back porch of the residence.
Second Platoon officers found Norris armed with a large machete.
They secured the area and engaged in a 40-minute dialogue with him, eventually persuading Norris to surrender peacefully.
An investigation revealed Norris had been on the porch for approximately six hours before officers arrived, with plans to attack the victim.
The quick response and de-escalation efforts of the Second Platoon officers and supervisors ensured the safety of the household and neighboring residents.
Norris faces charges including criminal attempt at first-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, and disorderly conduct.
He is being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 6.
