North Branford man charged in crash that injured one

NORTH BRANFORD — A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Foxon Road and Totoket Road left a 24-year-old North Branford woman with serious injuries on the night of Jan. 3.

North Branford Police, Fire, and EMS responded to multiple 911 calls around 8:41 p.m. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital and is reported to be in serious but stable condition.

Ricardo Rojas, 30, of East Haven, was arrested at the scene.

He faces multiple charges including operating a vehicle with a suspended license, driving under the influence, and assault with a motor vehicle.

Rojas was held on a $100,000 bond and released after posting it the following day.

His court appearance is set for Jan. 14 at the New Haven courthouse.

The North Branford Volunteer Fire Department was commended for their rapid response and care provided at the scene.

The ongoing investigation by the South Central Accident Reconstruction Unit and the North Branford Police Department is receiving regional support and oversight by the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office to ensure justice for the victim.
