MERRIMACK — A single-vehicle crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike led to the closure of all northbound lanes for approximately two hours and left a 19-year-old driver with serious injuries earlier today.
State Police responded to the scene near the Exit 10 offramp at 4:28 p.m. after reports that a vehicle had collided with construction barrels and descended an embankment towards the woods.
The driver, identified as Michael Ruiz of Nashua, was seriously injured in the incident but is expected to survive.
Authorities, including Troopers from Troop B, Merrimack Fire and Rescue, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, worked to clear the debris and tow the damaged Honda Accord from the site.
The northbound lanes were subsequently reopened at around 6:30 p.m.
Ruiz is facing charges for reckless driving, and while excessive speed is believed to have played a role, the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Investigators are requesting that anyone with information related to the accident contact Trooper Matthew Howe at (603) 223-4381.
