Providence traffic stops lead to multiple arrests on outstanding warrants

PROVIDENCE — At 9:45 a.m., Rhode Island State Troopers apprehended Darinisha Ashley, 29, of Providence, on a Sixth District Bench Warrant for an original charge of Domestic Violence-Simple Assault from the Providence Police Department.

The arrest followed a vehicle stop on Hartford Avenue.

Ashley was taken to the State Police-Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing and later appeared at the Sixth District Court for arraignment.

Later in the day, at 2:00 p.m., Troopers detained Esqulese R. Black, 21, also of Providence, on an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant related to a Shoplifting charge from the Warwick Police Department.

This arrest occurred after a stop on Route 146.

Black was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and handed over to Warwick Police officials.

In the early hours, at 12:41 a.m., Stanley Alston, 55, of Providence, was arrested on two Providence Superior Court Bench Warrants.

The charges included Possession of a Schedule I-V Controlled Substance and Shoplifting – Second Offense.

Alston’s arrest came after a traffic stop on Ashburton Street.

He was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and subsequently transported to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake Center.
