Rhode Island troopers make multiple arrests on various charges

PROVIDENCE — A series of arrests were made by Rhode Island State Troopers on January 2 and 3, including charges of assault, forgery, expired license violations, and DUI.

On Jan. 2 at 9 a.m., Troopers took David Manzi, 39, into custody on charges of Simple Assault or Battery from an incident stemming from the Lincoln Woods Barracks.

Manzi, a Cranston resident, was detained following a barracks investigation and a residence check by Trooper Dietsch.

He was processed and transported to Third Division District Court for arraignment.

Later that day, at 1:38 p.m., Leonard Thorton, 62, also of Cranston, was arrested as a Fugitive from Justice on the original charge of Forgery of RMV Document from the Seekonk Police Department.

The arrest occurred after a vehicle stop on Charles Street in Providence.

Thorton was processed and transferred to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.

Within ten minutes, at 1:48 p.m., Percy Judd, 53, from Providence, was arrested for failing to appear at a pretrial conference on an expired license charge.

This arrest resulted from a vehicle stop on Elmwood Avenue.

Judd was processed and taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.

At 11:18 p.m. the same evening, Dorian Parache, 28, of Providence, was arrested on a warrant related to a Domestic Simple Assault charge from the Providence Police Department.

This arrest followed a vehicle stop on Whitehall Street, and Parache was handed over to the Providence Police Department.

On the following day, Jan. 3 at 3:24 a.m., Francisco Fortes De Burgo, 30, from Pawtucket, was arrested for DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

The arrest followed a vehicle stop on Barton Street in Pawtucket.

Fortes De Burgo was held overnight pending arraignment and presentment as a bail violator at Sixth Division District Court.
