Manchester police arrest man after shooting leaves one injured

MANCHESTER — Police arrested a 33-year-old man after a shooting in Manchester that left a 55-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries.

On Jan. 2, at around 6:30 p.m., Manchester police responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Central and Maple Streets.

Upon arrival, officers found a group of people outside 341 Central St. seeking assistance.

Inside the building, they discovered the injured woman with a severe gunshot wound to her arm.

The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital due to significant blood loss.

Investigators believe the suspect, identified as Francisco Garcia of Manchester, was acquainted with the victim and had fired shots at another individual before fleeing the scene.

Later that evening, Garcia appeared at the Manchester Police Department and surrendered.

He faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and reckless conduct.

Police also found that Garcia had an active bench warrant and a warrant from another agency.

Garcia is expected to face arraignment today in Manchester District Court.
