NAUGATUCK — A Torrington man was arrested for evading a traffic stop and endangering the public in a CVS parking lot, authorities said Tuesday.
Angel Mateo, 46, was taken into custody on Dec. 29, following an incident that occurred on Aug. 20 when Naugatuck Police attempted to stop his vehicle for improper display of registration.
Mateo initially complied by pulling into the CVS lot on Bridge Street but then fled as officers approached, driving recklessly and putting pedestrians at risk.
Investigation revealed Mateo had a suspended license and could not provide valid vehicle documents.
He was charged with interfering with an officer, second-degree reckless endangerment, and various motor vehicle offenses.
Mateo was held on a $55,000 bond set by the court and was arraigned at the Waterbury Superior Court on Jan. 2.
