BOSTON — A Boston man was arrested Thursday afternoon with a loaded firearm and a significant amount of crack cocaine after a routine traffic stop by police in Mattapan.

At about 3:29 p.m., officers from District B-3 observed a vehicle with excessive window tint on Stratton Street.

They initiated a traffic stop using emergency lights and sirens, successfully stopping the car at the intersection of Stratton Street and Ames Street.

Upon contacting the driver, identified as Raymon Lorenzo, 21, of Dorchester, officers noticed multiple packages of marijuana and related paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Lorenzo admitted to possessing two ounces of marijuana, exceeding the legal limit allowed outside a residence in Massachusetts, and further indicated that the marijuana was not in its original dispensary packaging.

After Lorenzo was asked to step out of the vehicle, officers conducted a search and found fourteen bags of marijuana, each purportedly containing 3.5 grams, totaling approximately 1.75 ounces.

The investigation also led to the discovery of a large plastic bag of crack cocaine.

During a search incident to the arrest, officers retrieved a Sig Sauer P365 firearm with twelve rounds in the magazine and a laser attachment.

The crack cocaine weighed in at around 70 grams.

Lorenzo now faces multiple charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Offense, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm 2nd Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Trafficking Cocaine in 36 Grams or More but Less than 100 Grams, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
