Scituate barracks arrests two for fraud, DUI

SCITUATE— Rhode Island State Police arrested two individuals in separate incidents following investigations by Scituate barracks troopers.

At 9:32 a.m., troopers apprehended David J. Silva, 49, of Barrington, Rhode Island, at his residence on an affidavit and arrest warrant issued by the state police headquarters for fraudulent checks over $1,500.

The arrest resulted from an investigation led by Trooper Baldwin and was followed by a residential check.

Silva was taken to state police headquarters, where he was processed, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released on a promise to appear at a future arraignment at the Sixth Division District Court.

Later, at 12:30 a.m., Gilber Gamez Calvillo, 49, of Cranston, Rhode Island, was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Calvillo’s arrest followed a motor vehicle stop on Laurel Hill Avenue in Providence.

He was also transported to state police headquarters, processed, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace, and released pending a future court date at the Sixth Division District Court.
