BOSTON — A Roxbury man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning on firearm and drug-related offenses following a ShotSpotter activation in the neighborhood, Boston Police said.
At about 4:37 a.m., officers from District B-2 responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 2343 Washington Street.
During their search for potential suspects or victims, they noticed a group of individuals on Washington Street near Roxbury Street.
As police approached, one man, later identified as Marcel Barrows, 34, distanced himself from the group and was seen bending over behind a parked vehicle before returning to the group.
Officers discovered a firearm behind the vehicle and detained Barrows.
Upon searching Barrows, officers found a plastic bag containing approximately seven grams of Crack Cocaine.
The discarded firearm was identified as a Taurus .38 Revolver, loaded with five rounds and one spent shell casing.
Barrows faces charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B.
He is slated for arraignment at Roxbury District Court.
