FAIRLEE — A 74-year-old Fairlee man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle crash on New Year’s Day, Vermont State Police said.
Gary Barrett was taken into custody around 6:28 p.m. after troopers responded to a report of an accident at 2000 Lake Morey Rd.
Upon arrival, officers found Barrett walking away from the crash site and identified him as the driver of the vehicle.
Investigations revealed that Barrett was operating the vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.
He was subsequently arrested for DUI and later released with a citation to appear in Orange County Superior Court – Criminal Division.
The incident remains under investigation, and no further details have been released regarding the circumstances of the crash or Barrett’s blood alcohol content at the time of the incident.
