WINDSOR LOCKS — A brazen ATM theft occurred at the Moose Mart/Valero on Main Street early Thursday morning when suspects forced entry into the convenience store.
The Windsor Locks Police Department received multiple 911 calls around 2:22 a.m. reporting a possible robbery at the Valero gas station.
Responding officers arrived to find the doors wide open with a significant amount of debris scattered across the entryway.
Surveillance footage revealed that a black Acura MDX had pulled into the lot shortly before the incident.
Two individuals were seen exiting the vehicle, forcibly opening the store’s doors, and then attaching a tow hook and cable to the ATM inside.
The machine was subsequently dragged out, causing extensive damage to both the entry doors and inside merchandise.
The suspects were last seen fleeing south on Main Street with the ATM secured in the rear of the SUV.
No license plate was visible on the getaway vehicle, which appeared to be operated by a four-person crew.
An officer from the Windsor Locks Police Department had conducted a routine business check of the store at 2:09 a.m., mere minutes before the theft, and reported everything as secure.
The alarm company signaled an alarm activation at 2:28 a.m.
The Windsor Locks Police Department has opened a case on the incident and is currently investigating.
