Manchester woman killed in three-vehicle crash on US Route 7

SUNDERLAND — Vermont State Police reported a fatal three-vehicle accident that occurred on Dec. 30 at approximately 5:06 p.m. on US Route 7 near mile marker 28.4.

Kathryn Brown, 68, of Manchester, was identified as the deceased operator of the first vehicle, a 2017 Chevy Traverse.

According to authorities, Brown’s vehicle was heading north when it crossed the center line and collided with a southbound 2007 Dodge Sprinter, operated by Nicholas Frost, 31, of Lenox, Massachusetts.

Frost’s vehicle subsequently flipped onto its side.

A third vehicle, a 2015 Subaru Forester driven by Carol Ivey, 48, of Landgrove, was trailing behind Frost and collided with his overturned Sprinter.

The collision resulted in the total loss of both Brown’s and Frost’s vehicles.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, while Frost suffered minor injuries and was transported to Southern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC).

Ivey also sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.

All operators were reportedly wearing seat belts.

Local emergency services, including the Manchester Police Department, Arlington Rescue Squad, Arlington Fire Department, Manchester Fire Department, Shaftsbury Fire Department, and towing services from Paul’s Towing and Monarch Towing, were on-site to assist the Vermont State Police-Shaftsbury Barracks with the response and investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by Vermont State Police.
