APPLETON — Maine State Fire Marshal’s Investigators were called to the scene of a building fire at 2036 Appleton Ridge Rd. on Dec. 29 at 6:49 p.m., where they found a woman with burn injuries.
She was initially taken to Pen Bay Hospital in Rockport and later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland due to the severity of her injuries.
While the fire remains under investigation, authorities believe it to be accidental, possibly related to the wood stove.
The injured woman is still hospitalized.
In a separate incident, on Christmas Day at 8:06 a.m., investigators responded to a fire at 144 Gustafson Road in Clinton.
After assisting the Clinton Fire Department with the investigation, it was determined that an overheated heat tape under the mobile home caused the fire, which has been classified as accidental.
On the same day, at 8:40 p.m., the Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the Bluebird Motel at 231 Dublin Road in Machias for another building fire.
Due to significant damage, the cause of the fire at the motel is currently classified as undetermined.
