Juvenile arrested in connection with Worcester shooting

WORCESTER — A fourteen-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred on Mt. Vernon St. on Dec. 23, authorities said.

Worcester Police officers were dispatched around 6:20 p.m. following a ShotSpotter activation.

Upon arriving, they learned that a twenty-five-year-old male with gunshot wounds had been admitted to an area hospital.

Detectives initiated a follow-up investigation, which led to the development of probable cause for the juvenile’s arrest.

The suspect was taken into custody on Dec. 28.

The charges against the juvenile include Armed Assault to Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (firearm), Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.
