DERBY LINE — A local man was arrested late Saturday night after crashing his car into a tree near Derby Elementary School and fleeing the scene.
Logan Anthony, 20, of Derby, is facing multiple charges including DUI, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage, driving with a criminally suspended license, and providing false information to police.
Vermont State Police responded to a disturbance call on Elm Street around 11:17 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze with front-end damage crashed into a tree.
The investigation led troopers to Anthony’s residence where signs of impairment were noted.
After a DUI screening, Anthony was taken into custody and processed at the Derby barracks.
He was released with a citation to appear in Orleans Criminal Court on Jan. 14 at 8 a.m.
In addition to the criminal charges, Anthony received civil complaints for operating an unregistered vehicle, not having liability insurance, and violating underage drinking laws with a blood alcohol concentration above .02%.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
