Woman faces DUI, drug charges after Royalton crash

ROYALTON — A New Hampshire woman was arrested on charges of DUI and cocaine possession following a motor vehicle accident early Saturday morning, state police said.

Elizabeth J. Barnes, 37, of Grafton, New Hampshire, was taken into custody after troopers responded to a crash on VT Route 107 at the Interstate 89 North Exit 3 offramp around 3:35 a.m.

According to the Vermont State Police, troopers observed signs of impairment when they interacted with Barnes, the vehicle’s operator.

An ensuing investigation led to her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Barnes was processed at the Royalton Barracks and subsequently released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division, on Jan. 14, at 8:30 a.m. to respond to the charges.
