NEW HAVEN — The New Haven Police Department is investigating the theft of an Amazon delivery van that occurred Saturday evening in the city’s downtown area.
At approximately 5:32 p.m., officers were called to Portsea Street near Cedar Street following a report from an Amazon delivery driver that his vehicle had been stolen while he was delivering a package.
According to the driver, he left the white Dodge Ram van running, and a male suspect entered the driver’s seat and drove off.
The van, which is not marked with the Amazon logo but displays the code “R3” and bears a New Jersey license plate number XHVS56, was taken without any display of weapons, and the driver was not harmed during the incident.
The New Haven Police Department is urging anyone with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle to contact detectives at 203-946-6304.
