WILLIMANTIC — An armed robbery at the Valero Gas Station on the evening of December 26 prompted a swift response from the Willimantic Police Department.
Authorities received a call around 9:30 p.m. reporting the incident.
The suspect, brandishing what seemed to be a black pistol, demanded cash from the store clerk before a scuffle ensued.
The altercation led to the suspect taking roughly $710 in cash and fleeing the scene.
The suspect was last seen wearing black sweatpants, black shoes, black gloves with red lining, and a black hooded sweatshirt adorned with a white logo and lettering.
Chief Fabian Silva of the Willimantic Police Department has assured the public that this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no continued threat to community safety.
The department has prioritized the safety and well-being of its residents, with investigators actively seeking the perpetrator.
