Man arrested for vehicle theft, trespassing in Manchester

MANCHESTER — A Rutland man was apprehended early Friday morning after allegedly trespassing and stealing a vehicle in Manchester.

At about 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 27, Manchester Police responded to reports of two suspicious individuals rummaging through a car parked on Center Hill Road.

Officers encountered Joshua Rheaume, 49, near Depot Street and Richville Road, who matched the suspect’s description.

Rheaume fled on foot but was subsequently detained.

The investigation revealed that Rheaume had unlawfully entered the vehicle on Center Hill Road and stolen a 2018 Volvo S60 from Main Street.

The vehicle was later found at a local business with several of its items in Rheaume’s possession.

Rheaume faces charges of Unlawful Trespass, Possession of Stolen Property, Operating without Owners Consent, and False Information to a Police Officer.

He is cited to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Bennington Criminal Division.

The investigation continues, with Manchester Police seeking further community assistance.

Residents and business owners are encouraged to review their security footage for any suspicious activities and report findings.

The police are also investigating a related theft of a 2016 Red Ford Focus and are asking for the public’s help.
