WAKEFIELD — New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, along with local fire and police chiefs, announced Wednesday that four adults were found deceased in a home on Province Lake Road, with carbon monoxide poisoning suspected as the cause of death.

Wakefield Police Department officers, conducting a welfare check, discovered the bodies at 4:21 p.m. on Dec. 25 at 2962 Province Lake Road.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to assist at the scene.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims, as they are awaiting notification of next of kin.

An ongoing investigation is underway, and autopsies are scheduled for Dec. 26 to determine the definitive cause and manner of death.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the inquiry with aid from Wakefield Fire Rescue, Wakefield Police Department, and the New Hampshire State Police.

They urge anyone with information that may be helpful to come forward and contact the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Marshal Toomey seized the moment to emphasize the critical importance of having functioning carbon monoxide detectors in homes and to follow safety protocols by evacuating immediately and calling 9-1-1 if alarms sound.

No further details have been made available, but updates will be issued as the investigation progresses.
