BRIGHTON — A domestic disturbance in the early hours of Christmas Day led to the arrest of a local man for assault and violating his release conditions, according to Vermont State Police.
Troopers from the Derby Barracks were called to a residence on Paul Bunyan Road at around 5:16 a.m. where they found evidence that Cody Cerbeil, 20, of Vernon, had assaulted a member of his household.
Further investigation revealed that Cerbeil had also breached conditions set for his release from a previous incident.
Cerbeil was taken into custody and processed at the Derby Barracks.
Following his arrest, he was transported to the Northern State Correctional Facility and held on $2,500 bail.
The Vermont State Police have not disclosed the identity of the victim, in adherence to their policy regarding victims of domestic violence.
