SHELDON — Two individuals were taken into custody late Monday night after providing false information to Vermont State Police and further investigation revealed multiple violations, including active arrest warrants.
At around 10:27 p.m. on Dec. 23, troopers observed a traffic infraction and stopped a vehicle on VT Route 105 near Lumbra Road.
The driver, Corey Derry, 37, of Sheldon, and passenger Emma-Jayne Farina, 30, of Strafford, initially gave false names to the officers.
Upon investigation, it was determined that Derry was operating the vehicle with a criminally suspended license.
Farina was found to have five outstanding warrants on charges ranging from felony unlawful trespass and heroin possession to misdemeanors including vehicle operation with a suspended license and reckless endangerment.
Farina was booked into the Chittenden County Correctional Center with bail set at $1,750.
Both Farina and Derry have been issued citations to appear in Franklin County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Feb. 3 at 8:30 a.m., where Farina will face the charge of False Information to a Police Officer and Derry will face charges of False Information to a Police Officer and Criminal DLS.
