GEORGIA — A multi-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 89 South near mile marker 107.8 on Dec. 24, as snow and icy roads created hazardous driving conditions.
At around 7:30 a.m., Vermont State Police from the St. Albans Barracks, along with the Department of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Division, responded to a series of weather-related incidents.
One of the accidents involved a 2010 Toyota Tacoma that had skidded off the road.
Stone’s Towing was dispatched to recover the vehicle.
While the Tacoma, driven by 46-year-old Jamie Campbell of St. Albans, was being loaded onto the tow truck, a 2019 Dodge Durango operated by Krystal Lockerby, 38, of Highgate, lost control.
The Durango collided with the tow truck and the Tacoma, causing total damage to both Lockerby’s and Campbell’s vehicles and minor damage to the tow truck.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and Campbell was taken to Northwestern Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.
The tow truck operators were checked for injuries but did not require hospitalization.
The interstate was temporarily closed for the removal of the vehicles.
The crash is still under investigation, with Georgia Fire, Fairfax Rescue, Stone’s Towing, and the Department of Motor Vehicles providing assistance at the scene.
