Meriden man arrested in laundromat burglary attempt

MERIDEN — A Meriden man was arrested early Dec. 21 after allegedly attempting to burglarize the Trade Winds Laundromat on Liberty Street, according to Meriden Police.

Officers responded to a burglary alarm at the laundromat around 12:26 a.m. and found the front door unlocked.

A review of the closed-circuit television footage showed a man arriving on a black mountain bike at approximately 12:15 a.m., entering the establishment, and attempting to tamper with a coin machine and office drawers.

The suspect, later identified as Brandon Scozzari, 32, was detained by police near Pratt and Cedar Streets.

Upon arrest, Scozzari was found in possession of two knives, a glass pipe, and a small amount of crack cocaine.

Scozzari faces charges including third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, carrying a dangerous weapon, and use of drug paraphernalia.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 6 at GA-7 in Meriden and is being held on a $35,000 surety bond.
