Suspect nabbed in Brighton toy drive theft

BOSTON — A woman was arrested Friday in connection with a theft that occurred during a Brighton toy drive, according to the Boston Police Department.

Detectives from District D-14 (Allston/Brighton) took Ji Li, 44, of Boston into custody around 1 p.m. on Dec. 20 after spotting her on Massachusetts Avenue near St. Botolph Street in the South End.

Li was wanted for Larceny from a Building and Attempt to Commit a Crime.

The arrest stemmed from an incident reported on Dec. 16, when officers were called to the Corrib Pub at 396 Market Street in Brighton.

The theft occurred between 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 during the annual Allston-Brighton Toy Drive.

Li allegedly rifled through guests’ belongings and stole a purse.

Li is scheduled to be arraigned in Brighton District Court.
